A long right-hand point with multiple distinct sections, Punta Abreojos sits on a remote stretch of Baja California Sur coast roughly 100 km south of Guerrero Negro. S to W swells wrap into the bay and unload across three named setups: the main Point handles the most size and stays approachable, Three Poles offers a middle ground, and Razors is a fast, shallow, hollow right over unforgiving volcanic reef that only reveals itself on solid swell. Ideal conditions call for S to W groundswell, NW to N offshores, and the wind typically turns favorable in the afternoon. Most intermediate and above surfers will find something to ride, though Razors demands respect and experience. Bottom: reef. Season: S-hemisphere groundswell windows, late spring through fall. Consistency: medium. Bring a step-up for size days and be sharply aware of circling sharks, particularly when gill nets are deployed just outside the lineup.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Abreojos is a fishing co-operative town with low crime and genuinely friendly locals. Weekend crowds can build at the main point, and the limited road access keeps weekday numbers manageable. A 4WD opens up less-trafficked sections. Respect the co-op community, buy fish from the locals, and keep the vibe easy.

Access & Facilities

The road from the Baja 1 turnoff involves stretches of washboard dirt regardless of paving progress. Paid camping is available directly in front of the breaks. No formal surf shops, so arrive self-sufficient: extra water, sunscreen, ding repair, and fuel. Fresh fish is available from the co-op. Sharks are a real and documented presence, locals and visiting divers have confirmed large hammerheads working the area, especially near gill nets.

Nearby Alternatives

When Abreojos is blown out or too small, Isla Natividad to the north is worth the effort for its own right-hand point setups on the island's east side. San Juanico (Scorpion Bay) to the south is the well-documented super-point that needs S to W swell to wrap into its bay and is one of the region's longest rides on the right day.
