A reliable, crowd-friendly beach break on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, Cerritos delivers something different depending on which swell is running. NW and WNW swells wrap a fun right off the headland at the north end, connecting with the inside sandbar for rippable walls. SW and SSW swells light up the middle of the beach with quality A-frames, with the lefts dumping into the channel often edging ahead on form. Combo swells spread peaks across the whole beach, thinning the crowd naturally. The headland provides reliable wind shelter from afternoon NW onshores, keeping conditions cleaner later in the day than most exposed beaches in the region. This suits beginners and intermediates especially well, though it can get busy on weekends and holidays. Bottom: sand. Season: year-round, with Nov through Apr typically most consistent. Consistency: high. Arrive early during peak season and holiday periods when the car park fills fast.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The vibe is welcoming but afternoons get busy as surfers escape the NW wind blowing elsewhere on the coast. Weekends and Mexican holidays bring significant crowds. A few minor tensions when the swell drops and competition for waves increases. Morning sessions before 9am are noticeably quieter.

Access & Facilities

Park directly at the beach, free. Cerritos Beach Club on site provides board rentals, lessons, and food, making this a practical base. Camping available nearby. Ongoing coastal development with condos and hotels is changing the area, though the surf access remains straightforward.

Nearby Alternatives

Neighboring Pedrito, just up the coast, is worth checking if Cerritos is maxed out or too crowded. Pescadero beach to the north offers A-frames over sandy reefs when a different angle of swell is running. Todos Santos, a short drive away, adds miles of less-developed coastline worth exploring.
