Kingfisher Mentawai Resort sits on the palm-lined shores of Sipora Island in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The resort operates four bungalows built in traditional Mentawai style, positioned on a beachfront that looks directly toward Lance's Left, one of the most consistent left-hand reef breaks in the archipelago.
What makes it different
The resort's own speed-boat fleet gives guests access to up to 10 reef breaks around Sipora Island, rather than limiting surfers to a single shore break. The four-bungalow property keeps group sizes small, reducing crowding both on-site and in the water.
Skill level
The breaks accessed from this resort are primarily reef breaks, including Lance's Left, which require confident wave reading and experience on hollow or fast-breaking waves. Beginner surfers are not well suited to this setup.
