South and SW swells wrap in consistently across a sand bottom, producing peaks that range from playful walls at 2-4ft to legitimate grinding barrels when a solid swell pushes through. Intermediate surfers get the most out of it, with enough juice to work a rail or find a tube, though experienced surfers will appreciate the power on bigger days. Beginners can navigate it at high tide when the energy softens. Crowds are light most of the week, picking up modestly on weekends when locals drive down from San Isidro and Dominical regulars spill south. Bottom: sand. Season: June through September for size, December through April for clean conditions. Consistency: picks up almost any swell.
