Regencia delivers roomy, hollow lefts off a long exposed beachbreak on the Espirito Santo coast, about 27km of dirt road past the Aracruz Celulose factory. E to S swells produce the best shape, with NW offshore winds grooming clean faces from small to well overhead. The Boca do Rio rivermouth option lines up on bigger days when the open beach closes out. Strong rips and the absence of a clear paddle channel make this unsuitable for beginners, and the dirty river water plus low but real shark presence deserve respect. Bottom: beach with rivermouth option. Season: year-round. Consistency: high. Bring a board that can handle fast, hollow conditions and pick your moments carefully around the current.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowds are generally light despite the quality on offer, largely because the 27km dirt road access filters out casual visitors. Groups of day-trippers from nearby towns keep the vibe social rather than territorial. Respect the lineup and the protected sea turtle nesting zone along the entire beach.

Access & Facilities

Head past the Aracruz Celulose factory toward Vila do Riacho, then follow 27km of unsealed dirt road. Two designated parking areas exist within the fenced turtle reserve. No facilities on site, so bring food, water, and fuel. The beach sits inside a protected marine turtle nesting area managed by Projeto Tamar.

Nearby Alternatives

When Regencia is too big or walled, the extensive sands of Jacaraipe to the south pick up swell consistently along the Serra coastline with easier access. Setiba Pina offers punchy A-frames in a nature reserve with cleaner water for a change of pace.
