A sheltered right point on Ceará's northwest coast, Pedra do Meio breaks off a distinctive cluster of large boulders that mark the take-off zone and give the spot its name. It works on NW to NE swell with a southerly wind keeping faces clean, and performs best from mid to high tide when the point stretches rides through the 100-200m range. Intermediate surfers will find it rewarding, though the lineup fills up regularly, so expect competition for set waves. Bottom: point over rock. Season: northeast Brazil's swell season runs roughly June through December. Consistency: medium. The sheltered position from E winds means it can stay clean when more exposed spots along the coast turn choppy, making it a useful fallback when the region's better-known points are blown out. Bring a shortboard or mid-length suited to punchy right-hand walls, and arrive early to secure a position before the crowds lock in.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup fills up often. Pedra do Meio sits within reach of Fortaleza's surf population, and its sheltered position means it draws a crowd when nearby spots are blown out. Respect the local surfers who surf here daily, wait your turn in the rotation, and don't paddle straight to the peak on arrival.

Access & Facilities

Located a few kilometres west of other northeast Ceará points, the spot is identifiable by the large boulder rocks at the take-off. Free parking is available, but there are no facilities on site. Come stocked with water and food. The surrounding area is residential, and there is some pollution in the water, so a quick rinse after sessions is advisable.

Nearby Alternatives

When Pedra do Meio is maxed out or too crowded, Praia do Havaizinho offers a beachbreak alternative that can fire on mid to high tides. Further along the coast, Boca do Poço is potentially the longest right point in the region on a northerly swell and worth checking if the swell is running.
