Crowd & Localism
This is an urban Fortaleza break with easy access, which means it gets busy. Weekends bring heavy crowds. Bodyboarders dominate much of the Fortaleza lineup generally. Arrive early on weekdays to find a more manageable peak.
A jetty-split urban beachbreak in Fortaleza, Leste Oeste throws up short, punchy a-frame peaks between the marina and a long groyne on Ceará's equatorial coast. Conditions swing between weak and mushy to steep and dumpy depending on swell angle and tide. The wave responds to N through SE swell, works best with a SW offshore wind, and runs at all tides, though SE cross-shore wind at low water keeps it from going completely flat. Expect waves starting at 3ft, holding quality up to around 6ft on good days. Beginners and intermediates both find something here, though the lineup fills up fast, especially on weekends. Bottom: beach, jetty-influenced. Season: year-round. Consistency: medium. The commercial port zone brings real pollution concerns, so check water quality before paddling out, and stay aware of exposed rocks near the jetty that can catch you on a strong set.

Head to Iracema beach and follow Castelo Branco Avenue west past the Marina Hotel. A carpark is available. Lifeguard coverage is present. Pollution from nearby commercial activity is a real hazard, not a minor footnote.
Titanzinho, next to Muricipe terminal, is Fortaleza's most consistent reefbreak and worth checking when the beachbreak goes soft. Praia do Futuro, 5km of exposed beach further out, offers fewer crowds when Leste Oeste is blown out.
