Both waves feature steep, punchy drops into racy walls that section badly when the swell angle is off, so small to moderate swell is the window here. The 15km crossing can be rough depending on wind and sea state. Bring everything you need for the day. Reef sharks have been reported in the lineup, so surf with others and stay alert.
When Ndao isn't cooperating, Nemberala Beach on Rote offers a more accessible reefbreak with consistent SE swell and a wider skill range. Peanuts, a 30-minute ride from Nemberala, is an exposed outside reef that picks up swell when closer breaks go flat.
