Crowd & Localism
Lampuuk draws beach walkers and families more than surfers. The lineup is rarely competitive and localism is not a known issue. It can be a useful warm-up session when nearby A-Frame or The Left are too big or crowded.
Lampuuk is a generally shapeless beachbreak on the Aceh coast, about 15km southwest of Banda Aceh, that works best as a casual session rather than a surf destination in its own right. It needs a solid S to W swell to push anything rideable through, and afternoon glass-offs can occasionally produce wedgy peaks when the onshore wind drops. NE offshores are ideal but rare, most days the surface is messy. Size sweet spot is a modest 3-5ft, and the wave rarely holds shape beyond 50m. Beginners and families dominate the beach, and crowds are seldom a concern. Bottom: beach, with a fringing reef at the southern end. Season: S-swell months, roughly April through October. Consistency: medium at best. Bring a longboard or a fat twin fin for the small days, and manage expectations.

Free parking and a surf school on site make this the most accessible entry point in the Lhoknga area. No water quality concerns noted. The beach is wide and easy to navigate. Food and supplies are available in Lhoknga village, roughly 15km from Banda Aceh.
When Lampuuk is flat or messy, the A-Frame at Lhoknga, just a short drive south, is a far more rewarding session with a consistent, well-shaped peak. The Left, directly across the channel, and the southern end of the Lhoknga barrier reef also offer better-quality options when swell is running.
