Crowd & Localism
Solo crowds are the norm here. This is a remote stretch of Aceh's west coast with minimal surf traffic, so you are more likely to have the water to yourself than fight for waves. Treat any locals in the water with respect.
A rivermouth beachbreak near the market town of Lamno, on Aceh's west coast, that rewards patient surfers willing to hunt shifting sandbars. It works best on S to W swells in the 1-6ft range, with NE offshores cleaning up the faces. A new breakwall near the Udjung Muloh rivermouth has altered the classic right that once formed here, so expect the setup to be inconsistent and exploratory. Beginners and intermediate surfers comfortable with rivermouth currents will find occasional fun corners, but the wave rarely delivers consistent shape in a single session. Bottom: sand. Season: May to October for S/SW groundswell. Consistency: medium. Watch the estuary outflow after rain as river pollution is a real concern, and the rip channels that drain the rivermouth can catch you off-guard on the paddle-out.

Lamno is accessible via the main west-coast road through Aceh. No dedicated surf parking or facilities exist at the break. Bring your own water, food, and supplies. The estuary and river drain agricultural and urban runoff, so avoid surfing after heavy rain and keep cuts clean.
A few kilometres south, End of the Road offers a capable righthander worth checking on solid swell. Further south around the Km 88 marker, Kuala Unga delivers one of the heavier regional waves when conditions align.
