Crowd & Localism
Rarely surfed. The remoteness inside Cabo de Gata park keeps most beachgoers away and surfers almost non-existent. No localism pressure to navigate. Early mornings in autumn are likely to have the beach entirely to yourself.
A crowd-free beachbreak on the wild southeastern edge of Andalucia, Los Genoveses sits inside the Cabo de Gata natural park where the Mediterranean generates modest but workable surf. The spot needs a NE to SE swell to come alive, and westerly offshores groom the faces when conditions align. At 1-6ft it produces small, manageable peaks across a long grey sand beach that works through all tides, with medium consistency for a Med beachbreak. Beginners will find space and forgiveness here: the lineup is almost always uncrowded, water quality is clean, and there are no significant hazards. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through early spring when Med storm swells run. Consistency: medium. Facilities and parking are absent, so come self-sufficient with water, food, and anything you need for the session.

No parking infrastructure and no facilities on site. Access is via the Cabo de Gata park road network. Bring your own water, food, and sun protection. The nearest services are back toward San Jose. No known water quality concerns.
When Los Genoveses is flat, San Jose to the north offers another Med beachbreak option worth checking. Cabo de Gata to the south occasionally produces a rideable right-hander over rocks. If you're willing to drive further, Almeria sometimes has a wave breaking in town when swell is running.
