The spot picks up short-period E and SE wind swells, particularly levante conditions, which can push enough energy into the beach to make it rideable when most of the Costa is flat. Optimal size is under 3ft, and it rarely holds anything bigger with quality. Weekends bring town crowds to the beach and the lineup fills quickly even when surf is marginal. Fuengirola is accessible by car off the A-7 coastal highway or by commuter train from Málaga city centre, making it one of the more accessible surf checks on the Costa. Street parking is available. Full town infrastructure nearby: cafes, restaurants, and surf shops in the area. No serious hazards beyond the occasional close-out and beach swimmers.
When Fuengirola is flat, check Puerto Marina to the east, which can occasionally work on levante. Experienced surfers should look west toward Tarifa on the Atlantic side of the Strait of Gibraltar, where consistent Atlantic and Mediterranean swells produce far more powerful conditions.
