A well-shaped, powerful left-point in Lotofagā, Samoa, Boulders is a rarity for this part of the Pacific and one of the better waves on the island. S swell is the key, best from waist-high to double overhead, with N winds keeping the face clean. Low tide sharpens the sections and pushes the wave toward hollow. The break suits intermediates on smaller days but demands respect at size, with lava and coral heads below and legitimate consequence when the sets stack up. Bottom: reef (lava and coral). Season: May through August. Consistency: moderate when swell is running. Dawn patrol timing rewards patience here as the crowd thins and the light sits perfect on the face. Paddle out from the beach and pick your spot carefully since a long left-point lineup means getting caught inside during a set is a real paddle battle.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup sees moderate crowds when it's firing, though the local vibe is welcoming with no notable aggression reported. Standard lineup respect goes a long way here. Early sessions on weekdays will give you cleaner runs and a more relaxed vibe.

Access & Facilities

Paddle straight from the beach. Lotofagā is a small village so services are limited, bring your own water and snacks. The backdrop is dense tropical green. The main hazard is turning your back to the ocean during lulls, sets can arrive with little warning.

Nearby Alternatives

Samoa's south coast has a handful of reef setups that wake up on the same S swell window. If Boulders is blown out or too big, scout the calmer reef options further along the coast for more forgiving conditions.
