A-frame reef peaks split into a long left and a punchy right over a submerged boulder-reef mix in a sheltered bay on the Vesterålen coast of Northern Norway. The wave needs a solid W to NW swell of 2.3m or more to fire, with SW swells requiring closer to 3m due to the island of Gaukværøya blocking some power offshore. Wind sensitivity is high: anything above 4 m/s onshore kills it, and glassy or light offshore mornings are the sessions worth chasing. Mid to high tide is the window to aim for. Bottom: mixed boulder, reef, and sand. Season: late autumn through winter, or one to three days post-storm. Consistency: low to moderate, swell-dependent. Avoid low tide entirely, the bay empties out and the rocks will find your fins before you find a wave.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lineup is mellow and the local vibe is welcoming, but this is a small community. Parking is limited and scarce near the break. Ask locals before pulling up close to private properties. Respect goes a long way up here, and the lineup reflects that.

Access & Facilities

Parking is tight. Be polite, ask permission if parking near homes, and leave no trace. Water is clean. Bring everything you need: no shops or rentals at the break. In winter, a 5/4mm wetsuit with hood, gloves, and booties is not optional.

Nearby Alternatives

Northern Norway has a handful of reef and point breaks scattered along the Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos. When G-frame is too small or the wind is wrong, nearby exposed headlands often pick up more swell or offer better wind angles. Check conditions across the region before committing to the drive.
