A shallow-reef left-point in the Sunda Strait, One Palm Point sits inside a National Park on Panaitan Island and requires a boat charter roughly three hours off the West Java coast. S and SW swells of head-high to triple-overhead peel long barrelling lefts over a razor-sharp coral bottom that demands respect from the moment you paddle out. SE winds go offshore. Mid tide is the safest call since low tide turns an already paranoia-inducing bottom into a genuine hospital run. Advanced surfers only: late takeoffs are the norm, the barrel is supertight, and the wave gets progressively shallower as it runs. Bottom: shallow coral reef. Season: March to November. Consistency: low exposure means clean lineups but you need everything to align. Full wetsuits or thick rashguards are standard even in the tropics, not for warmth but to survive contact with the reef if you go down.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The boat-only access and national-park setting keep crowds minimal. Weekdays and weekends alike see almost no one out. The local vibe is welcoming and there's no reported localism pressure. That said, respect for the environment is non-negotiable inside a protected national park.

Access & Facilities

Charter a boat from the West Java coast, roughly three hours each way. There is no accommodation on the island, so live-aboard or day-trip boat charters are the only option. Full moon timing is a common logistical reference point for trip planning. Wear full-length protection against the reef regardless of air temperature. The water is clean.

Nearby Alternatives

G-Land (Grajagan) on the southeastern tip of Java is the regional benchmark left-hand point and a logical base if Panaitan conditions don't cooperate. Other boat-accessible breaks in the Sunda Strait region can fill in around tides and swells when the charter schedule allows.
