A cluster of outer reef peaks off the northern tip of Panaitan Island, inside Ujong Kulon National Park, Western Java, where raw S to SW swell hits with nothing to slow it down. These are mostly right-handers that absorb the full force of open-ocean energy, but quality varies sharply across the lineup: some sections deliver legitimate, shapely walls while others simply collapse into shoulder-less closeouts. NE winds keep things clean. Mid tide is the window. Best size runs from waist-high up to triple overhead, with March through November the reliable season. This is advanced-only terrain, boat-access only, with no civilization within reach if something goes wrong. Crowds are light to non-existent, and there are no locals to navigate, but the sharks, reef, and sheer remoteness demand respect before you paddle out. Bring a quiver, a first-aid kit, and a realistic read of your own ability.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Lineup pressure is minimal. Panaitan's isolation filters out all but the most committed travelers, and there are no resident locals. What you lose in crowd stress you make up for in logistics: getting here requires a boat, planning, and commitment. Dawn patrol is less about beating crowds and more about maximizing light and clean conditions before the afternoon sea breeze arrives.

Access & Facilities

Boat-only access from the Ujong Kulon National Park zone on the western tip of Java. There are no facilities, no medical services, and no resupply points nearby. Bring everything you need for the session and more. Water quality is clean. Reef and sharks are the primary hazards, treat both with full seriousness.

Nearby Alternatives

When the outer bombies are too heavy or blown out, the sheltered breaks inside the bay can come alive with cleaner, more manageable surf. The broader Panaitan Island zone rewards patience and boat mobility: move to whichever peak is reading best on the day.
