Beginners can get comfortable on the outer, softer section in deeper water, while intermediates and advanced surfers will find plenty of face to work across the 100-200m ride. Panaitan Island is reached by boat charter only, typically departing from the west Java coast. There is no parking, no facilities, and no shore access. Bring everything you need: water, food, reef booties, and a first aid kit. The reef is shallow and the remoteness of the island means any injury is a serious logistical problem.
One Palm Point is the marquee left on Panaitan and handles bigger S and SW swells when Inside Lefts gets too small to warrant attention. On days when the outer bay is firing, intermediates are better off staying on Inside Lefts rather than paddling into heavier, more exposed water.
