Jetty-shaped sandbars give Praia de Mira reliable, punchy beach peaks along Portugal's Zona Centro coast, north of Nazaré. SW to N swell at 2-6ft with an E offshore wind is the ideal setup. High tide delivers steeper, more critical walls while low tide flattens things out as waves mush across exposed bars farther from shore. Beginners and improvers will find the uncrowded lineup forgiving and the consistent reps valuable, particularly on smaller NW pulses in summer and autumn. Bottom: sand. Season: year-round with peaks in autumn and winter. Consistency: high. Pack a fish or mid-length for the smaller days, as the short ride lengths rarely reward a performance shortboard here.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is a genuine low-pressure lineup. Weekend crowds stay light and the broader area between Figueira da Foz and Nazaré offers multiple alternatives, so even on busy summer weekends the vibe stays relaxed. No notable localism reported.

Access & Facilities

A car park sits directly behind the beach and the village has camping facilities, making it a practical base for multi-day trips. Praia de Mira is a summertime resort town, so food and water are easy to find in season. No significant hazards or pollution flagged.

Nearby Alternatives

The 80km stretch south toward Nazaré holds several uncrowded jetty and sandbar setups worth exploring when Mira is small or wind-affected. Figueira da Foz to the north has a well-known right wedge off a breakwater that needs a bit more swell to fire.
