A fast, punchy beachbreak 30km south of Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki fires up a-frame peaks across a wide sand-and-reef bottom when Atlantic swells wrap into the bay. SW to N swell windows keep it consistent through the autumn-to-spring season, with easterly winds grooming the faces into clean walls. Mid-size swell at 4-8ft is where it excels, though it can hold up well past 10ft on bigger pulses. Intermediate surfers will find plenty of peaks to spread across, crowds are generally light except on weekends when surfers drive down from Essaouira. Bottom: mixed sand and reef. Season: October through March. Consistency: high. Come on a weekday dawn patrol for the best shot at empty peaks and glassy conditions before the notorious coastal wind kicks in later in the morning.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends pull a modest crew from Essaouira, but the wide open beach means peaks are rarely contested mid-week. Localism is low. Standard respect protocols apply: read the lineup before paddling out, share peaks with the handful of local and camp surfers who call this place home.

Access & Facilities

Roadside parking directly at the beach. A surf camp operates on-site, offering accommodation and equipment rental. No major pollution or hazard concerns reported. Essaouira, 30km north, has restaurants, supplies, and gear shops if you need anything beyond camp basics.

Nearby Alternatives

When Sidi Kaouki is too big or the banks are off, Essaouira's town beach offers more shelter and softer conditions. Further south, Immesouane is worth the drive for its long, easy right-hander when N swells are running and longboard conditions are on the menu.
