Naga Laut
Trip fit
About this camp
Naga Laut is a surf charter liveaboard operating in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The Mentawais are widely regarded as one of the most wave-rich surf destinations in the world, with a dense concentration of reef breaks spread across an archipelago that stretches roughly 150 km off the Sumatran coast. A liveaboard format gives surfers access to this spread of breaks with flexibility that a fixed land camp cannot match, allowing the crew to follow swell direction and wind patterns day by day.
What makes it different
As a liveaboard rather than a fixed land camp, Naga Laut can reposition daily to chase optimal swell and wind conditions across the full spread of Mentawai breaks. This mobility gives guests access to lineups that shore-based camps and day-trip boats cannot reach as efficiently.
Skill level
The Mentawai reef breaks are predominantly fast, hollow, and shallow, making this trip best suited to confident intermediate through advanced surfers comfortable on reef. Beginners would find limited suitable waves in the core charter zones.
