A point-style right-hander peeling off a beach bottom, Madeiro sits between Tibau do Sul and Pipa on the Rio Grande do Norte coast of Brazil. It catches swell from the SE to S window and works best at low tide when the wave walls up properly from a mellow takeoff and runs long, occasionally stretching 150-300m on a good day. Offshore NW winds keep faces clean, and the surrounding cliffs provide natural shelter from the persistent onshore trade winds that kill nearby breaks. Beginners and intermediates handle the takeoff comfortably, but the inside section can close out hard, so stay sharp. Bottom: beach. Season: September through March. Consistency: reliable in the NE Brazil swell season. Bring a shortboard or a fish for the smaller, playful days, and watch the inside section carefully as it can shift between barrel opportunity and punishment with little warning. Crowds stay light on weekdays but the lineup fills on weekends, so dawn patrol is the move if you want space.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays see few surfers in the water and the vibe is relaxed. Weekends can get crowded, drawing surfers from Pipa and Tibau do Sul. Localism is not a reported issue. Respect the lineup, take your turns, and go early if you want the best conditions with fewer bodies.

Access & Facilities

Coming from Tibau do Sul heading toward Pipa, look for the stop known locally as Parada do Jegue or Village Natureza. Stairs lead down to the beach. Pipa is close by with full amenities including food, water, and equipment rentals.

Nearby Alternatives

Pipa's main beach breaks and the left at Baía dos Golfinhos are within a few kilometers. When Madeiro closes out at higher tides, check Praia do Amor in Pipa, which can offer more defined peaks across a similar swell range.
