A fast, punchy beach break north of Maceió, New Orleans delivers hollow, powerful peaks at a stretch of coast most traveling surfers bypass entirely. Named after the restaurant that once anchored the beachfront, this Alagoas break faces east and picks up SE to NE swells from 3ft upward, holding shape through to 8ft-plus on solid groundswell days. Low to mid tide is the window, with a notably fast takeoff and short but punchy walls that reward surfers who can read and react quickly. Rocks hide beneath the surface, especially at higher tide, so wave selection matters. Bottom: sand over rock. Season: Brazilian winter (May to September) brings the most consistent swell. Consistency: moderate to good in season. Dawn patrol after overnight rain often coincides with offshore east winds and a cleaner, more powerful lineup, so set your alarm if a swell is running.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays here are genuinely quiet, often solo or near-empty sessions. Weekend crowds are mostly spectators at the beachside bar rather than surfers in the water. Locals are described as friendly. Respect the vibe, keep it low-key, and the lineup tends to stay relaxed.

Access & Facilities

Head north from Maceió toward Paripueira. After passing Praia da Sereia, look for a beachfront bar standing alone among coconut trees on the right. The bar provides shade and cold drinks. Watch the rocks on entry and exit, especially at higher tides. Water quality improves after dry spells.

Nearby Alternatives

Praia da Sereia, just to the south, offers a more accessible option when New Orleans is too small or too rocky. Maceió's main town beaches provide easier entry points on smaller days.
