Sandbars tucked behind the Hilton on Florida's Palm Beach coast offer a low-pressure alternative when Lake Worth is too hectic to bother with. The break works best on NE to NNE swells and SE windswells at mid-tide, with a slight edge on the flood, producing short, punchy rights and lefts off two marked buoys. Optimal size is waist to head-high, and WNW winds keep it clean. Beginners benefit most here, getting real waves without competitive lineups, though the constant paddling to hold position will test your fitness on bigger days. Bottom: sand. Season: fall through spring, plus hurricane season. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. Park at Kruesler Park north of Lake Worth Pier and walk a quarter-mile north rather than risking the hotel lot, where tow trucks are a genuine hazard.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is genuinely mellow, with essentially no localism. The main crowd issue is clueless hotel tourists who drift into the impact zone without reading the water. Dawn patrol avoids them entirely. Fishermen also work the outer reef and regularly cast surface baits for spinner and blacktip sharks, so stay aware of lines in the water.

Access & Facilities

Park at Kruesler Park north of the Lake Worth Pier and walk north roughly a quarter-mile. Do not walk through the hotel carrying your board, and do not park in the hotel lot unless you want to deal with a tow. Nearby food and facilities are available along the Lake Worth beach corridor.

Nearby Alternatives

Lake Worth Pier, just to the south, offers more defined peaks and can hold bigger swell but draws more crowds. If neither is working, Palm Beach's numerous beach breaks up and down A1A provide other options depending on swell angle and size.
