After rain, water quality drops, so check conditions before paddling out on a post-storm south swell that would otherwise be worth the drive.

When the sandbars go flat or the swell direction favors a more defined setup, Oceanside Pier and the jetty peaks to the south are the obvious next call. On a bigger NW pulse, the outer jetty can organize into something more substantial.
