A wide urban beachbreak north of Alicante city that catches NE to SE Mediterranean swells on an east-facing shoreline. Best conditions come with some south in the swell and a westerly offshore wind keeping faces clean. The wave is short, rarely exceeding 50m, and stays relatively gutless below 3ft, but picks up shape and push in the 3-5ft range during autumn and winter storm windows. The beach draws a large local crowd, so expect company whenever the Med actually delivers. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through early spring when Atlantic lows push swell into the basin. Consistency: medium. The northern headland at Cabo Huertas has a couple of reefs worth checking if the beachbreak is too messy. Bring a longer, more buoyant board than you think you need, since Mediterranean swells tend to be short-period and lose energy fast in the shore break.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is a popular city beach with a well-established local crew. Crowds are frequent whenever conditions cooperate. The lineup is generally manageable in terms of aggression, but respect in-water priority and do not paddle around the peak. Dawn patrol significantly reduces congestion.

Access & Facilities

The beach is easily reached from central Alicante along the N-332 coastal road. Parking is limited and can be difficult in summer. No dedicated surf facilities on the beach, but the surrounding urban area has cafes and shops nearby. Water quality is generally acceptable.

Nearby Alternatives

Cabo Huertas to the south offers reef alternatives when the beachbreak loses shape. Further south, the long east-facing beaches near Torrevieja pick up swell on similar windows and often have more space in the lineup.
