A peaky, muscular beachbreak at the foot of Punta Diamante, Revolcadero sits just outside Acapulco's resort sprawl and soaks up south swell energy from June through November. Best on S to SW groundswell at 4-8ft, with NE offshores cleaning up the faces. The break can handle size, pushing toward double overhead and beyond on bigger pulse days, though the northern end near the headlands produces more organized conditions while the stretch toward Barra Vieja picks up more raw energy. It suits intermediate through advanced surfers on average days, with the beachbreak peaks shifting constantly, and the lineup stays manageable mid-week. Bottom: sand. Season: June-November. Consistency: medium. Access can be a genuine hassle as resort fences and private beach corridors limit entry points, so scout the beachfront before paddling out. Pollution from the commercial zone is occasional and worth checking after heavy rain.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Localism is mellow by Mexican standards. Weekends bring a noticeable crowd from Acapulco, but mid-week sessions are uncrowded. Respect the peaks, take turns, and there is generally no pressure. Dawn patrol is the reliable move on busy summer weekends to get waves to yourself.

Access & Facilities

Resort properties run across much of the beachfront and public access points are limited. Allow extra time to find a legal entry. Parking is available near the beach. Camping is possible in the area. No major board rental infrastructure on-site, so bring your own quiver. Avoid paddling out near resort security zones.

Nearby Alternatives

When Revolcadero is closing out or crowded, Playa Bonfil offers a consistent beachbreak directly in front of Acapulco Airport. For more exposed south swell energy, Pie de la Cuesta north of town can produce a punchy sucky shore break on solid S swells.
