A remote beach break tucked inside the Lençois Maranhenses National Park in Pará, Brazil, Travosa demands genuine effort to reach and rewards you with uncrowded peaks away from the circuit. It fires on NE to SE swells in the 3-6ft range, with mid to high tide keeping the banks clean and preventing close-outs on the shallower sections. The walk in is roughly 30 minutes across open dunes from Travosa village, which itself requires a dune-track drive from the São Luís direction. Expect a handful of fishermen's houses for accommodation, no surf shops, no rescue, and no crowd. Bottom: beach. Season: NE swell season, roughly October through March. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. Pack light but pack everything, because resupply options once you're past the park entrance are essentially zero.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The 30-minute dune walk functions as a natural filter. On any given session you're likely sharing the peak with a handful of surfers at most. Local vibe is relaxed, consistent with a fishing village community that sees few visitors. Respect the village, the park rules, and the fishermen who live there.

Access & Facilities

Drive from São Luís toward Lençois Maranhenses National Park, then navigate dune tracks to Travosa village. From the village, walk 30 minutes across dunes to reach the break. Basic accommodation in fishermen's houses is available but spartan. Bring all food, water, and surf supplies. No lifeguards, no medical facilities nearby. Watch for rip currents forming on shifting sand banks.

Nearby Alternatives

The broader Maranhão and northern Pará coastline has additional exposed beach-break options when Travosa isn't producing. Barreirinhas, the gateway town for Lençois Maranhenses, occasionally surfaces swell-exposed stretches worth checking if the dune walk comes up flat.
